Each month we see more news articles in health and consumer magazines talking about women in menopause and bioidentical hormone therapy (BHRT). Always identical questions keep popping up. Exactly what are bioidentical hormones? The short answer is that bioidentical hormones are derived in a lab from plants, and they are comprised of molecules that are exactly as the endogenous hormones made in a person’s body. These hormones aren’t accurately the same but the molecules are. They are referred as natural.
Let’s go one step back to answer another frequently asked question. Why are a lot of people fearful to take in hormones? It’s because back then news were out about the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) which puzzled doctors, women and the news media in regards to hormone therapy. This research was sponsored by the government where the negative results were pointed out with exaggerationexaggerately back on May 2002 and this is the reason why women and doctors to stay away from hormone replacement as much as possible. Wiley and a lot others had a strong feeling that this plan was not well monitored and not accurately analyzed. This historic report was in fact on synthetic drugs with hormone-like effects, PremPro and Premarin, substances that were donated by the pharmaceutical corporation that had sold them since 1942. What they thought was that the drugs would be found safe and efficient, but the real meaning, nothing could have been far from the truth.
Women can administer bioidentical hormones in a number of ways: pills, gels, drops under the tongue, or through skin creams. There are a variety of approaches to the dosing and blood levels and they have all been clumped together as “natural,” but the reality is that not one of them are truly natural if they do not imitate a rhythm that your body can distinguish as natural in you. The Wiley Protocol(tm) is the only bioidentical hormone therapy that is biomimetic, or rhythmic, cycling hormones, and does copy the body’s tempo. Developed by author and researcher T.S. Wiley, the Wiley Protocol(tm) is now being used by tens of thousands of women, and approved by a network of providers worldwide. Many women that have experienced positive results by the use of this remedy has given The Wiley Protocol(tm) website their experiences and personal accounts on how pleased they were of the outcome. A huge number of them has even gone to the point of giving out comments and their own videos on Wiley’s Youtube account, the Bioidentical Channel.
Wiley conducts seminars about the natural past of endocrinology or otherwise known as environmental endocrinology, in Glendale California, where its termed as “Two Days Back on Earth.” After the creation of the Wiley Protocol, she searched for natural hormones that have natural replacement – real bioidentical hormone therapy. She believes that gels, pills and drops do not have the similar rhythm as that of our body similar to endogenous hormone pulse. A vigorous young woman’s endogenous hormones spike up and way down low and set off various genes; genes that grow cells, prevent cells from growing, and tell cells to die.
So she looked closely at the various hormone states women have in life; 1) young and cycling 2) bearing children, 3) breastfeeding or 4) decreasing hormones. Would it not make sense that, first and foremost, young and cycling, seems to imitate condition of hormonal health? Why? Because the other two templates are too difficult to reproduce physically and experimentally.
A woman’s cycle reaches up an estrogen peak then the it cascades and takes it lower to a much slightly significant peak. On the twenty-first day, progesterone rises. Healthy women have a period that has a duration for 5 days with a heavier flow on days 2 & 3. She then concluded that with bioidentical hormones, it is only correct if it is taken over to mimic, not only the ones that are chemically set-up in the body, but as well the ones that impersonate the natural biological process as well.
What’s more, new research is focusing on healthy hormone replacement therapy (HRT), and suggests that women must round-up their hormones and experience menstrual bleed to be truly safe from heart conditions. Based on a Danish study, a combination of cyclic regimen with monthly blood flow makes a lower cardiovascular threat for women than continuous-combined estrogen/progesterone/progestin therapy, which doesn’t create a menstrual bleed. Study shows that for those using now HRT over women who have not taken hormones, there hasn’t been any increased heart attack risks.
Dr Ellen L?kkegaard, from Rigshospitalet in Conpenhagen, Denmark is a gynecologist and the main investigator of this research. Dr. L?kkegaard declared,” The main message is that when hormone therapy is indicated for a woman, then a cyclic combined regimen should be preferred, and that application via the skin or the vagina is associated with a decreased risk of myocardial infarction.” Since the court examination of the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) in 1991, a large study observed the effects of HRT which followed 698,098 healthy Danish women ranging from 52-69 years old.
There is rhythm to the way hormones work, and there is a beat similar music. Drops, gels, pills and static dosing has no rhythm. Yet the Wiley Protocol biomimetic, rhythmic bioidentical hormone therapy does. When there are enough hormones in a woman’s body, they feel better.
