Headache may occur due to a wide range of causes…
Heredity – Do you remember your dad’s headache whenever you are in or around his range? Aha you do? O’ Boy you are lucky; you can be the true son with the same aching head.
Poor body posture - Do you sit in front of your television or computer for a long time staring and blinking? Can I predict your future? Ok here you go… You will be running with an aching head in the near future if your head haven’t already started kicking you down. If your headache is due to long time working in front of computers, I would recommend a computer monitor/screen filter, which really helped when I had headache due to my computer.
Increased exposure to heat or cold – Are you an amphibian, spending most of your life in water? Don’t take me wrong – I meant, do you swim and stay in water for long hours? Or are you a person who works under the burning sun? If you work under extreme hot or cold environment, then I hope you now know the reason for your headache.
Exposure to sun or moon – In Siddha, the headache that are caused due to exposure to sun & moon are called by the names Sooryavarthakam & Chandravarthakam respectively.
- Sooryavarthakam – Headache will be seen only when the sun is present and headache will disappear when the sun sets.
- Chandravarthakam – Headache seen only when moon is present and vanishes when the moon disappears.
Exposure to sustained loud noise – So you are that guy who always likes to see your speakers crack while listening to music, due to high exploding noise? Aha got you… with the headache of course.
Indigestion and acidity – keep watch of the quantity and quality of the foods you eat. Incompatible foods may upset your stomach resulting in headache.
Hunger – Do you resort to skipping your meals due to your tight work schedule or any other reasons? By doing so you are only inviting the headache that will disturb your job and your life.
Sour Tasted Foods - Nowadays we can see an increasing number of headaches due to Intake of sour tasted foods mainly foods like mangoes, pickles, lemon, fruit juices, curd, buttermilk, colas etc. If you are a cola addict then, the cause to your headache is none other than your favourite cola. The same applies to all the other sour foods.
Tooth infections - may be your headache is due to your ready to be plucked teeth. So it’s better to go and consult your dentist and check what you can do about it.
Vision abnormalities - headache can also be due to eye defects, go have an eye check up. May be you will need to change your glasses or start wearing glasses if you haven’t already. It can also be due to other eye complaints. So the better solution will be to consult your eye specialist and find the appropriate solution.
Stress, strain or tension - Stressed out due to the daily events and circumstances that you go through? You may be having headache as well. The best thing to do is to avoid the happenings or circumstances that creates the stress or strain. To be precise, stay away from the negative.
Sinus infections - Your headache may also be due to the sinus infection. So proper medication must be taken to get relief.
Carrying weights on head - Do you have the habit of carrying weights on your head? Then your headache must be due to your practice of lifting weights with your head. Why hurt your head purposely?
Menstrual headache – In women headache may also occur as a symptom during their monthly menstrual cycle. Around 60% of women suffer from menstrual headaches.
Menopause headache – Headache is also seen as a symptom during the stoppage of menstrual cycle in females.
Alcohol consumption – Drinking alcohol can also result in severe headaches.
Effects of Medication - Headaches can also occur as a side effect to some medications.
Trauma – Trauma or any severe blow to the head can also be a reason for headache.
Lack of sleep or insomnia – Do you stay awake without sleep for a long time at night working or studying or due to some other reasons? You may feel throbbing headache the other day. All you got to do is find a cozy bed and have a long nice sleep.
